As Rwanda is cerebrating the week for saving and banking, the focus was put on mobilizing the young people about the positive outcomes of nurturing the habit of saving both for them and for the nation at large.
As to reach the goal, different schools held debates on different motions related to both saving and banking. The finalists were Green Hills and Agahozo Shallom. The final debate was won by the Green hills. Both sides were confidently defending their views and this played a significant role in judging the best side to win.
Seven judges took into account not only argumentative skills but also time management ability.
Green Hills Academy was tasked to defend the usefulness of financial management while their counterparts were tasked to defend the motion linked to the finance itself.
One of the Green Hills students Shyaka Victor said that the debate enhanced his knowledge about finance and financial management as this will back him when he will start his own business.
He studies in senior too and is 13 years old. He told UM– USEKE that he has been able to save as much as 6000 Rwf.
Hubert Ruzibiza an official from the RDB in charge of quality service delivery said this mobilization intends to reach all levels if the society involving university , secondary and kindergarten students as equip all of them with the necessary knowledge about the usefulness of being financially fit through saving.
