The Rwandan Police contingent operating in Haiti has been decorated for its discipline and performance since its arrival in this war and natural disasters thrown nation. They are recognized for their outstanding peacekeeping role.
The Rwandan policemen are part of the UN backed peace mission labeled MINUSTAH.
Individual Police Officers (IPOs) who were decorated on 21, April receive their award in recognition of their performance in restoring peace and security in Haiti.
The special envoy of the UN Secretary general El Moustafa Banlamlin was the one who decorated them.
Decoration event took place at Port au Prince Capital city and was attended by different officials including the MINUSTAH, Brig. Gen. Georges Pierre Monchette and the Chief of Rwanda Police contingent in Haiti Superintendent of Police (SP) Eric Murenzi.
In his speech Banlamlin lauded the efforts provided by Rwandan Police contingent since its arrival in that nation.
He said that RNP in Haiti is of a great devotion to its duties and carry it with professionalism.
Banlamlin thanked them for the display of spirit of cooperation with their colleagues.
SP Murenzi said that the decoration of Rwandan Police contingent in Haiti gives pride to Rwanda as a nation that plays a role in restoring peace and security in different nations across the global.
He encouraged the Rwanda policemen in Haiti to keep providing the efforts necessary for a full restoration of social economic welfare of Haitians.
