Uwimanimpaye admitted that he used Facebook to lie people about giving them jobs they searched for. He said that two people paid them 400 000 Rwf as facilitation fees but they didn’t manage to have such jobs.
The 33 years old told reporters that he visited different websites where jobs are announced and, once he found people who wrote their CVs, he asked them an amount of money so that they can be selected for the jobs easily.
He called them using a so-called’ private number’ and told them that he is one of the staff members of the Ministry of internal affairs and promised them a help in having job needed.
After convincing them about his sincerity, he asked them for an amount of money as a facilitation means to fulfill the task.
Until his arrest, only two people have given him 200 thousands each, making 400 thousands Rwf.
According to the Police, he admitted to be working with another group of people who are IT specialists and who are also stealing people’s money using different forms of technology.
The SIM Card that was encrypted with a private number was given him with a former MTN staff members who sold it to him to 20 000 Rwf.
The RNP spokesperson ACP Celestin Twahirwa said that the institution will keep tracking all the robbers and other wrongdoers as to weaken their bad habits.
He therefore called upon the rest of the citizens to be vigilant as to not allow the thieves keep exercising their harmful actions upon them.
Once found guilty of these tricky actions, the suspect will endure an imprisonment period between three to five years and will be forced to pay a fee between three to five million Rwandan Francs.
