The project Waka Waka’ that processes solar energy in Huye district has facilitated locals to acquire lighting through providing modern lamps. This will enable them to have smart and clean houses.
Local beneficiaries affirm that the use of the traditional lamps hindered them from breathing fresh air.
The poor light damaged also their sight and the availability of the new lamps that are cleaner is an added value and a healthy way of carrying out household activities safely.
One of the local parents named Pacal Ukozivuze told Umuseke the traditional lamps were spoiling their children’s eyes while revising their studies in evening hours.
He thereafter lauded the provision of their cleaner lamps and it will boost their students’ performance.
The provision of the solar energy producing machines will allow locals to carry out different activities such charging mobile phones, among other activities.
The Waka Waka project management reveals that its prices are not as expensive as people might think.
Clients are allowed to purchase these lamps to a relatively small price.
The project is to allow 75 per cent of Huye inhabitants to use cleaner energy as Kayitesi who is one of the project managers told Umuseke.rw

The project is meant to expand its activities to different districts such as Nyamagabe.
