The Imena Family is a genocide survivors organization whose members have been left alone as their close family members were wholly massacred during the Genocide against the Tutsi that took place in 1994.
Saturday 04, June, 2016, Imena family and its friends commemorated the genocide against the Tutsis in general but particularly the ones who are not yet buried in respectful way.
The event held at Kigali memorial site located in Gasabo, Gisozi, was attended by diverse people including the ones from three districts of Kigali city(Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge), representatives other genocide survivors organizations such as GAERG, AERG, CNLG and IBUKA.
The most significant deed that characterized the event was the laying of flowers to three monuments upon which the names of the Tutsis whose bodies aren’t yet buried are written down.
