Friday, at Rwanda Library Services, Isaro Foundation with its stakeholders has shown to the journalists a package of 50 000 books reserved for Rwandan students from all education levels in order to encourage the culture of reading and writing among youth.
Iragena Jean Leon, the CEO of Isaro Foundation said that these books are to be distributed in different schools across Rwanda in order to help students have access to knowledge and be equipped with necessary intellectual skills to overcome ignorance and poverty.
The Guest of Honor was Honorable Gatabazi Jean Marie Vianney who, through his inspiring speech, encouraged the youth to be long life readers, able to think out of the box and become entrepreneur-oriented.
He thanked the Isaro Foundation members to have had such a creative and smart idea to set up an association of young people willing to motivate others to read and write.
Never give up, he advised the youth. You are a source of motivation for young people for a transformation change, he added.
He affirmed the commitment of the Government to support such initiatives.
The Isaro Foundation has helped different schools to set up small libraries that contain books of different nature and contents.
Iragena J. Leon told journalists that among these books are the ones written in electronic way aiming at steering the use of information technology among the youth.
In this year, the Isaro Foundation will spread its activities in different corners of the country with the partnership of private and public bodies.
Isaro Foundation has 150 members from Rwanda and USA who strive to foster the culture of reading in Rwanda and beyond.
The books shown to journalists are worthy $240.000 and will be distributed to different schools from nursery, primary, secondary and up to university.
