The Head of State Paul Kagame addressing the youth gathered in the Imbuto Foundation members’ Forum, reminded them that Africans have strength that can help them reach the development they deserve without relying on the foreign aid.
For him, this will help in self reliance and Africa pride for every African.
Young people who attended that Forum were briefed by different keynote speakers including the Ugandan renowned journalist Andrew Mwenda.
Mwenda underlined the importance of setting policies that befit African values and which enable citizens to be responsible.
President Kagame thanked the Youth for the initiative to sit and discuss on issues of national interest, reminding them that the future of Rwanda will be defined by only responsible young people.
The Head of State sharpened the minds of young people on the need of increasing self reliance among them for lasting national pride.
Rwanda will be a strong nation depending on the resilience of its citizens, President Kagame said.
However, some of African leaders exercise their power in way that discourages youth to become fully responsible, he said.
He deplored the fact that some of African leaders keep begging to the powerful nations for aid as if the lack of that aid automatically defines death of their citizens.
President Kagame said that a good way to increase partnership between African nations and aid donors is to create an environment for mutual helpfulness and understanding.
