A Gicumbi district resident Jean Claude Shirimpumpu who is known for his goat herding activities launched a Gira Ihena Muturanyi (literally: Own a goat my neighbor).
He started his new program by providing his workers with goats to herd and utilize the natural fertilizers. His activities started by giving these goats to people grouped into 26 teams and those ones will be providing the offspring of the goats to their fellow neighbors.
Shirimpumpu revealed that he aims at providing the goats to at least 600 farmers and at least 200 of them will be receiving these goats before 2015 ends.
One of the beneficiaries Cyprien Rwandanga thanked Shirimpumpu for his inner-willingness to help his neighbors to increase the production.
The idea of starting such a program came in his head after observing the lack of fertilizers among farmers, Shirimpumpu told our reporter.
He called upon the ones who received such goats to care about them and be grateful through providing goats to others.
