On 2nd, July, 2018 a group of young people from one of GAERG families ( Imitali Family) joined representatives of religious based NGO called Open Gate Ministries- Rwanda to provide genocide survivors from Runda Sector, Kamonyi district, with life sustaining items to improve their livelihoods.
Bienvenu Tuyizere, the Head of the Open Gate Ministries- Africa Chapter, told Umuseke that aim of that initiative was to come into help to needy 1994 genocide survivors from Runda Sector, Gihara Cell.
The NGO has innovated houses that were in a deplorable state, provided them with clean water and electricity.
We knew that needy genocide survivors from that village had an urgent need for clean water and electricity. In additional to that, their houses deserved to be innovated before it was too late, Tuyizere said.
He underlined that providing them with adequate items is an imperative for young people.
The Open Gate Ministries Rwanda will keep its actions of mercy to needy people living in this village, said Pastor Tharcisse Ibumba Mukiza who heads Open Gate Ministries Rwanda.
He added that in the near future, children from these families will be given education support depending on the finance available.
One of locals who benefitted from that support named Pelagie Kanzayire thanked the heart felt support from the Open Gate Ministries as it will revive the feeling of parenthood and belongingness among the 1994 genocide survivors dwelling in that village.
The elderly woman who is a lone survivor among her family members said that such support reveals how caring the Rwanda youth is towards the elderly 1994 genocide survivors in particular.
Pastor Ibumba Mukiza told Umuseke that whole support provided to people living in that village nears 1 million Frw.
