The incident happened this Wednesday when a group of unidentified refugees attacked a family of the other refugees and severely wounded them using machetes. Independent sources claim that this incident is laid on the quarrels and animosity based on the fact that some came from the Northern Kivu Province of DRC while others are from the South Kivu Province.
In the middle day, some people told an elderly woman that she will be facing troubles in the late hours.
Seemingly the woman did not take the talk as serious but a group of men erupted in her house with machetes that very evening.
They (the ones with machetes) wounded her seriously alongside her daughter.
A young man who visited the family was bound alive both legs and arms and was left inactive.
As the photos of the wounded ones were posted online through social media, different people condemned these horrible deeds.
The attackers ran away but one of them was captured by a group of the neighbors and was also wounded by machetes used by the ones who wanted to revenge the woman.
Tensions between refugees from Northern and Southern Kivu Provinces of DRC have been reported in the previous years but it never generated into such brutal and deadly acts of wounding some of its inhabitants.
Numbers show that not less 16 thousands refugees from Northern Kivu Province are hosted in Kiziba refugee camp while two thousands are from Southern Kivu Province.
The ones from the Southern Province reported that they have been victims of such violence and this pushed some of them to relocate from the camp towards other areas of Karongi district.
According to the news that Umuseke collects from reliable sources, Rwanda National Police arrested six persons suspected to be part of the criminals who attacked and wounded the above-mentioned people.
Rwanda accommodates not less than 74 thousands refugees from DRC and those ones have been in Rwanda for 15 years ago.
