Works to expand the road connecting Kayonza and Rusomo boarder have started and have reached 3% for few past months.
The Japanese International Cooperation Agency has sponsored this project as stated by the Japanese Ambassador to Rwanda Takayuki Miyashita. The amount invested into the project is estimated to 68 million $
The Kayonza-Rusumo road is 92 kilometers long and is a serves to connect Rwanda to Tanzania in the East corridor.
It helps connecting both countries to its neighboring ones namely DR Congo and Burundi.
The rehabilitation of this road will include expanding its width from 6 meters to 7.4 meters wide and other needed facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
Needed funds are available for the completion of this projects as underlined by concerned authorities.
