Kigali: RNP and its partners undergo training in peacekeeping for refugees

Tuesday, September, 16, at the Headquarters of the RNP located in Kimihurira, 120 officials from different entities in charge of security issues started learning training on how effective they can keep security locals especially the refugees.

The training is under the auspices of the UN’s branch in charge of refugees .

The Spokesperson of the RNP ACP, Damas Gatare said that keeping the security of refugees living in Rwanda is a coordinated action that involves RNP and its partners including Migration Office and UN.

He said: “The trained will increase their knowledge in security keeping skills  of in order to increase the safety of  refugees living in the Rwandan territory and securing the borders that are used by immigrants or others people.”

For ACP Damas Gatare these training will equip the nation will skilled people ready for securing the refugees in circumstances of war and displacement.

The representative of the UNHCR, Saber AZAM revealed that the choice for holding these training in Rwanda based on its stability and effective coordination of its activities as a security organ.

Saber AZAM urged for complete collaboration between all entities in charge of of refugees affairs so that the mission might be fulfilled.

Rwanda hosts a many refugees as 73 thousand people who include the ones from neighboring Congo and the so-called urban refugees who came from S.Sudan, Eritrea, among other nations.
