REB is holding a two days workshop that aims at setting new curriculum for Kinyarwanda and French in order to provide quality education of both languages. The program is meant to include new strategies to foster new education policies to increase education quality.
The workshop brings together the Ministry of education, REB (Rwanda Education Board) with EAC educational stakeholders.
Dr Joyce Musabe, the REB manager in charge of curriculum development and implementation said that the new program aims at creating a new Rwandan educated in different languages and competitive enough at the international scare.
She said that the program will enforce the EDPRS II and the 2020 Vision that Rwanda has set as key elements to eradicate poverty.
The new curriculum is meant to improve the programs that are most likely to increase the education quality. The less important ones are not concerned with the new curriculum.
Dr Musabe said that both French and Kinyarwanda languages will be given more learning and teaching hours as to increase fluency in speaking, writing and hearing skills for both languages.
Minister of education Dr Biruta Vincent in his speech said that the aim behind this program is to equip Rwandans with all necessary skills needed for a competitive Rwandan at the international labor market.
Since 1994, Rwandan education system underwent a certain number of education changes some relating to languages, others relating to teaching and learning strategies.
The new changes started in 2013 and are meant to be implemented fully in 2013 until 2017 academic programs.
