The Ministry of education told journalists that Rwanda will be producing the Made in Rwanda labeled technological gadgets such as laptops, smart phones and tablets to foster the education that befits the speed of the today’s ever-changing world.
This will be achieved through the partnership with factory POSITIVO GBH and the first installments will be delivered in the coming June, 2015.
In the newly set up education policy to be lunched in the near future called Smart Classroom, the learners will be thought using white boards and different reading materials including e-books will be made available.
Internent access will increased to all users and therefore boost the access to information and knowledge countrywide.
However, this policy will be spreading slowly as to reach the remote areas of the nation and therefore benefit to as many learners as possible.
This new policya;asimched after the one called One laptop per child was launched earlier in order to provide opportunities to Rwandan children acquire ICT related skills in this current competitive world.
The CEO of the Kimenyi POSITIVO BGH told UM– USEKE that partnership agreement has been signed last year but its implementation will take place from the coming March.
He added that the factory will also be providing as different electronic gadgets as TV screens, smart phones, tablets, etc.
Kimenyi has revealed that at the beginning, the focus will be put on the fabrication of the mini laptops for children but more others for adults will be made afterwards.
The Positivo is a Brazil-based factory that has a relatively long history of assembling technological gadgets.
In 2010, it joined Argentina based factory operating in the same area of activities, thus spreading its sphere of action till to Uruguay.
This factory’s headquarters will be installed in Rusororo factory park even though more decisions upon it installation might be taken in the near future.
Ministry of education stipulates that the use of the Smart Classroom education policy will reduce the cost of buying classic books.
The factory will contribute about the national economy as different jobs will be provided and the fact that the factory’s management will be paying taxes will contribute to the increase of the national treasure as well.
