According to the Morocco press organization called MAP, King Muhammed VI sent an official letter to African Union Summit members who gathered in Kigali yesterday, informing that his kingdom is willing and ready to rejoin the Union that it left since 1973.
In the letter the king informed that the aim is to contribute to the union’s efforts to create lasting peace and play significant and tangible role in the ongoing social, economic and political issues concerning Africa as whole.
At the beginning of last month, Rwandan President Paul Kagame made an official visit to Morocco and he is believed to have convinced the King to return his kingdom to the Union.
