According to the news coming from both districts advisory committees, the Mayors of Karongi and Nyamagabe have presented the resignation letters. Some news coming from Nyamasheke stipulates that the Mayor of the Nyamasheke, Habyarimana Jean Baptiste district has presented the resignation letter to the advisory committee last evening.UM– USEKE tried to communicate with the Mayor Habyarimana through his mobile phone but he did not respond.
Regarding the case of Mayor of Karongi Bernard Kayumba, news say that his resignation was due to his mismanagement of the health insurance widely known as Mutuelle de Sante.
Bernard Kayumba has been managing Karongi district with past nine years.
His vice mayor in charge of Mutuelle de Sante is under arrest by the RNP due to the cases related to Mutuelle de Sante.
Karongi district dwellers have been paying the fees of the Mutuelle de Sante at the pace of one hundred per cent.
Those district mayors resign after the ones who did the same in the previous months namely the ones from Kirehe, Gatsibo, Rwamagana, Gasabo and Rusizi (the later one is under arrest).
