Her name is Jane Mutoni and she holds the crown of Miss Rwanda Heritage 2016. Her visit started with the visit of ‘the Foot of King Ruganzu’, whose history is said to have been full of wary actions and tactical wisdom.
Oral sources inform that King Ruganzu Ndoli existed in sixteen century and was gifted in hunting, conducting wars and in wood making, among other achievements. Miss Jane Mutoni expressed her appreciation about what she saw and encouraged the rest of youth to nurture the thirsty of knowing history of their forefathers.
She said the ignorance that persists in the young people’s minds regarding their nation’s history is deplorable and should decrease through reading and visiting historical sites.
Mutoni told media that she got insights on how Ruganzu used his skills in wood making, hunting and war strategies, thus increasing her knowledge on ancient history of Rwanda.
Her journey will cover four districts such as Rulindo, Kamonyi, Huye and Rusizi where King Ruganzu is said to have stepped during his various expeditions.
According to the book labeled ‘Les Milices du Rwanda pré-colonial’ of late Father Alexis Kagame, Ibisumizi army of Ruganzu is the most heroic in the Rwandan history as they helped the king to re-conquer the territories that were undertaken by enemies during his exile.
