Misunderstandings between APACOPE staff and parents

This crisis got worse this Sunday when parents of students hosted in the school came to attend a meeting at APACOPE  . They found the school closed and phones  contacts of  school leaders off line.

 

This crisis is rooted in the fact that two teachers wanted to understand why there is huge difference of salaries among themselves while they have similar education backgrounds.

Those teachers are deposed from their posts. For that the entire teaching staff resigned and waits for more clear explanations on the matter.

This Sunday, parents came to attend a meeting in order to get more insights on the matter but, unfortunately for them they did not find anyone to receive them. Even phone contacts of the school authorities were off.

“They leave us outside the school. We don’t understand why .Our wishes are to know reasons why our children do not attend classes. We are not concerned with internal financial audit not for housing technical problems. What matters for us is our children’s well-being”  parents’ Representative told Orinfor.

Most sadly is to find that one of the deposed teachers teaches Economics  and four other major lessons to senior six students, courses to be set at the National exams context to enter University level.

One of the students told Orinfor that ‘this lack of peaceful relations amongst the staff negatively impacts on their studying habits’.

The Nyarugenge District  ,Vice –Mayor in Charge of Social Affairs , Kalisa Pierre, told reporters that the issue is not new for them,  adding that the situation is complicated by the fact school authorities change their statements that none should be deposed for his/her views on a given issue.

Parents courageously urged remaining teachers to keep teaching students as the issue is still under consideration.

APACOPE secondary school undergoes this ‘crisis’ as a school that hosts 300 students among whom some will pass national exams in upcoming months.
