Mugesera urges the court not to investigate on his lawyer’s healthy state

As Mugesera’s case resumes today, the suspect urged the court not learn much on his lawyer’s health state, finding it unnecessary. He said it would be better if the concerned was present in the court to narrate his case.

It was likely known that the today’s court hearing could not take place as the court has had the medical paper testifying Lawyer Jean Felix Rudakemwa’s health state.

The medical paper mentions that lawyer J. Felix Rudakemwa is entitled to have 15 days-length rest to recover.

However both sides (the accused and the prosecution) were prepared for today’s court hearing but were not aware of the health state of lawyer J. Felix Rudakemwa.

Even though, the prosecution said was not aware of that fact, it insisted that the court would investigate on the health situation of lawyer Rudakemwa as to be surely convinced on how ill his(lawyer Rudakemwa) healthy state is.

Dushimimana Claudine who represented the prosecution in the court highlighted her worries about the credibility and motives on how lawyer Rudakemwa remains unhealthy in a constant way.

For her, there is a likely willingness of the defense to challenge the court and the prosecution on behalf of the accused.

The body of judges accepted the claims of the prosecution to carry out an investigation on whether lawyer Rudakemwa is really sick or not.

The decision will be made public during the next court hearing scheduled to take place this Thursday, the body of judges concluded.

Mugesera displayed his discomfort with the court’s decision calling it unnecessary as him and his defense are currently searching for witnesses on his behalf.

According to the today’s schedule, lawyer Rudakemwa was to explain to the court on the causes that hindered him from attending the last session.
