Family members who are currently living in decaying houses from Rongi sector, Muhanga district are soon to relocate into decent and well-constructed houses in a model village located in the same sector, one of local authorities told Umuseke.
The concerned families are made of most vulnerable people including poor, orphans, elderly and the ones living in high risk zones.
Four families will be occupying one house that will be equipped with all necessary items for a decent living style.
Each house will be having a dining room, a showering room, a chicken and a biogas for cooking.
It is planned that 900 people are participating in the construction works of these houses.
They told Umuseke that they earned money that helped them paying fees for the Mutuelle de Santé.
Locals say that they are lucky to have these houses in their neighborhood as health center and markets will be nearby.
The Mayor of Muhanga district Uwamariya Béatrice told Umuseke that in choosing the ones to be relocated into these houses they relied on someone’s social status, the ones living in high risk zones, elderly ones, among others.
The model village comprises of modern market, fruits plantations for fresh air and healthy diet, a hall, secondary schools, among other facilities.
It also features modern and well equipped veterinary clinics. Our informants say that the village will be inaugurated early next month.
Rwandan government has set that in 2020 more than 70% of Rwandan citizens will be living in villages as to help them acquiring better health and security services.
