Muhanga: A house of a local reserve force member destroyed by officials

Nsabimana Emmanuel  who was living in the  Gitarama celll in  Nyamabuye Sector,  Muhanga District expressed  his sorrow concerning the fact that  his house has been destroyed by local authorities. He said that he built the house  having all the needed permits and under the sight of everyone.

The former soldier Nsabimana  Emmanuel  said that he has come from the DRC and has been reintergrated  and demobilized by the Commission.

He has been equipped with all skills, knowledge  and money to start his business that consisted of metal welding. He had 120 000 Rwandan francs for the business.

He got money from the business and chose to build a house in the areas surrounding  his mother residence as to remain closer to her. He said the local authorities were informed about the building  and agreed to that.

Nsabimana says that he could not continue to build the house if someone might have warned him to stop the building but none did.

For him, destroying this house without any warning is  violation of his rights.

The Executive secretary of the Nyamabuye sector, Mugunga Jean Baptiste denies the claims according which Nsabimana has searched for  construction permits as the officials wrote two letters warning him  not to continue building, but he continued, authorities say.

Mugunga  warned inhabitants  not to pay money to officials who will not  defend them when their houses will be destroyed.

The construction permit is worthy between 30  and 40 thousand Rwandan francs. However, local authorities are accused to be financially  corrupted  when they  are providing such construction permits.

The saddest  reality is that those officials don’t face the same loses compared to the ones of the inhabitants.
