It has been circulating, even being bubbled out by those near her office that the Mayor of Muhanga District, Béatrice Uwamariya, is nepotistic favoring and promoting some, the dust she calls nonsense.

In the interview with more than 20 people who thoroughly know this southern Province district, Umuseke had learnt they accuse their mayor of favoring her allies. Among these interviewees, included business people and those in the district’s office.

Referring to the recent changes she made, the interviewees underscored she promoted dismayingly, citing one of the cases in which she promoted one who had spent six months out of office, for he/she had been sick due to a speculated and so called poisoning case made by mate.

The promoted was positioned as the head of one of the departments of the district council, the succeeded took over the executive secretary position while its holder stayed in the cycle and was given the chair of the one said to have been sick.

“One of them was out of office for over six months while the other one was new and he/she hadn’t spent years allowing him/her to be promoted in such a short time.” added one of the interviewees.

Hinging on the situation, some accused her of fueling hatred and disputes among the district officials and others say they decided to keep quiet fearing to lose their jobs.

In the interview with Umuseke, Mayor Béatrice Uwamariya says all these accusations are fake and that all she did, concerning promotion, had been analyzed by technicians and found they hadn’t broken any law.

She says the decision was made basing on everyone’s issue and reasons and that it was in line with solving their disputes, some accusing others of having poisoned them.

“Poisoning is only proven by doctor, but I couldn’t even pretend not to know what had been speculated about this person,” Mayor says.

Uwamariya goes on to say that strife is no longer in her office and that the conflicts were solved long ago.

She proves that all people in her office are satisfied with the interdependence and solidarity among workmates.
