Muhanga- Properties worthy 60 Million Rwf lost

Before the end of this year, officials from Muhanga  District in charge of the finance affirm that properties worthy 60 million Rwandan Francs were lost while the money was to be given to inhabitants displaced from areas reserved to host an electrical instillation.

Uhagaze Francois, Vice mayor in charge of finance and economic plan confirms to reporters that mismanagement of that money has happened and adds that officials from the cell and sector levels are the most accountable .

The fact that the Canadian NGO called CIMA that won the tender to count the monetary value of the properties left the responsibility of distributing the money to leaders from the cell and sector levels  thus the mismanagement, he reveals.

Many of the suspects in this affair are  charged by the justice while the CIMA company lost the tender.

80 are under the investigation while 23 among them are already appealed to court. Among those include the former executive secretary of the Mushishiro sector declared guilty   and sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Statistics show that the money that is lost exceeds the one of money that is said to have been smuggled by suspected officials.

Officials present in the press conference affirm that mistakes committed so far will not longer happen as the adequate measures have been taken  including resting a new list of people worthy to receive money.

If the Mushishiro power plant is completed, it will provide additional 29 Megawatts to the existing power supply.
