Saturday during a summit between Heads of states of EAC , President Museveni warned the westerners to stop involving themselves into the affairs of the EAC , an involvement that destabilizes the management of the affairs of the Community, according to President Museveni.
President Museveni commended the Community for its huge achievements since its rebirth in 1999. However President Museveni added that the western powers have tried hard to make the efforts of the EAC fail.
During the summit, President Museveni said that the current social and economic development of the EAC resulted from the commitment of its leaders and citizens through fostering different infrastructures and security.
Among different real achievements of the EAC, Museveni highlighted the current common market, advanced technological network and a remarkable security that reigns in the region at large.
He urged all senior officials in the summit to provide more efforts as to make the dreams of eminent Africanists such as Julius Nyerere and Nkwame Nkrumah happen.
The Heads of states signed a protocol allowing the using of a single monetary union in the region, a step that is crucial in the integration process.
The single monetary union is meant to ease the trade between all concerned states.
During the same ceremony two judges swore in as the members of the EAC Court of Justice. Those are Dr Emmanuel Ugirashebuja from Rwanda and Madame Monica Mugenyi from Uganda.
