Sunday the Minister of Youth and ICT promotion Nsengiyumva Jean Philbert told Radio Isango Isango star that the current Ndi Umunyarwanda program aims at  fostering the understanding of our history and all issues that brought to divisions among Rwandans in order to cure wounds related to our History.

He said this during a radio show broadcasted to Radio stations  including Isango, Ishingiro, Inkoramutima, Izuba and  Voice of Africa, a show that that brought together journalists such as Robert Mugabe and Theodor Ntabingwa.

Basing on the historical background of Rwandans, Minister said that among the key pillars of the Ndi Umunyarwanda is to help Rwandans the new generations feel friendly and live in harmony with all Rwandans regardless of the so-called Hutu, Tutsi and Twa ethnic groups.

Bishop Rucyahana, The President of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission, backed Minister in saying that the Ndi Umunyarwanda program that  its roots into our history whereby colonial maters have created negative image of Rwandan brotherhood through creating the ethnic groups that brought up the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.

Bishop Rucyahana added that the Ndi Umunyarwanda is a tool to help young generations to get healed from the wounds of the past.

Journalists who conducted the show asked whether Rwandans did not know that they are Rwandans so that they can currently be reminded their being Rwandans.

Invited guests said that this is not matter of reminding people who they rather to clearly explain to them that the colonial teachings that separated Rwandans should be dethroned and embrace a common understanding of our identity.

Asked whether it is not later to explain the Ndi Umunyarwanda, Bishop Rucyahana said that after the genocide many issues were to be put in place but this is time to discuss to the Ndi Umunyarwanda as a key pillar for the development of the nation.

Among the listeners who intervened one asked whether the statistics on the rate of the reconciliation were not true. Bishop said that reconciliation involves different policies that are interconnected  including the Ndi Umunyarwanda.

One of the journalists said  that  as long as journalists are not fully familiar with the Ndi Umunyarwanda , the rest of the Rwandans will not embrace the program. Bishop Rucyahana urged the journalists to learn more about the program and help citizens understand its usefullness.

This show aimed at explaining to listeners the background of the Ndi Umunnyarwanda Program before the National dialogue  scheduled  next week takes place.

This show is broadcasted every Sunday from 2 to 3 PM, aiming at discussing on the key issues that concern Rwanda and the international scene.

It is planned by the ARJ( Association Rwandaise des Journalistes) and IPP( Institut Panos Paris).
