Kigali: The National Electoral Commission has announced the provisional presidential candidates who fulfilled the required documents to compete for the upcoming presidential elections. Those are President Paul Kagame and Dr Frank Habineza from the Rwanda Democratic Green Party.
President Kagame has recently been chosen as the RPF Inkotanyi flag bearer in the August presidential elections.
Other aspirants for the presidential elections are currently disqualified for the race as they do not fulfill the requirements, The NEC President Prof Mbanda said.
They still have time to fulfill the requirements until 06 July, 2017 one day before the closing date.
All of them still miss the signatures of 600 people as stipulated in law. The law obliges them thave 15 signatures from each district.
Diane Rwigara still misses few people to sign for her while Gilbert Mwenedata has to search for missing signatures in 15 districts. Mpayimana Phillipe still misses signatures too.
Fred Sekikubo Barafinda does not have any of the required signatures.
Rwigara Diane is said to be missing 12 supporters required from each district.
Mpayimana Philippe has only 265 signatures from each district and still misses 12 supporters in 23 districts.
All those candidates are required to fulfill the requirement not later than 6th, July this year if they are to be admitted to compete for the presidential elections to take place on August, 03-04, 2017.
