New heroes to be recognized and listed as national heroes

It is accepted to everyone to provide the names of people they think have demonstrated heroic deeds. This has been decided upon yesterday by the National Commission on Heroes. Kamali Karegese, the Executive Secretary of the Commission told journalists that Rwanda intends  to select other heroes categorized as outstanding ones .The criteria to use in the selection are:

-Having and displaying a hard-hearted spirit, being resistant,

-Being a real patriot,

– Developing an insightful mind,

-Having a widespread recognition as a hero,

-Truthfulness is among the key,

-Honesty and dignity

Adding to these is a renowned inner willingness to perform deeds that helped others to benefit from his/her deeds at national level.

Normally Rwanda has three categories of heroes:

-Imanzi,Imena and Ingenzi.

Karegesa told journalists that these was done in order to find out whether there are not other heroes that fulfill criteria to be part of Rwandan recognized heroes. For him, everyone can provide news and testimonies on a person he/she finds as being a hero.

This new policy does not exclude living heroes. Asked about awards these newly listed heroes will receive afterwards he said that the nothing is set for them as reward apart from the respectful social recognition.

1.An anonymous hero

2.Major General Fred Rwigema ,

3.King Mutara III Rudahigwa,

4.Rwagasana Michel ,

5.Uwilingiyimana Agatha,

6.Félicité Niyitegeka,

8.Former Students of Nyange School.
