New Muslim Leader in Rwanda focuses on fighting extremism

Mufti Sheikh Salim Hitimana who was elected this Saturday as the new leader of Muslims in Rwanda vowed to eradicate the  growing extremist ideologies among the youth. He said that he will be achieving this through helping in creating jobs and assessing the lying causes that push the young spirits in extremism.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The elections were attended by religious dignitaries from all districts including Imams and representatives of the special groups such as people with disabilities, youth and women.

The outgoing mufti Ibrahim Kayitare thanked the team that helped him  fulfilling his tasks. He therefore took the opportunity to warn the forthcoming committee to work hard as the task ahead is huge.

Ibrahim Kayitare, who is to fully complete his term in the coming dates, said that the Community underwent challenges related to legal issues, financial management related cases, and some other shortcomings that characterized some of its members.

He admired the courage of his team to overcome such hindrances, urging the incoming one to provide more efforts and achieve the best they could.

New Mufti of Rwanda, Salim Hitimana along side his deputy Swaleh Nshimiyimana promised the electing committee and the Muslim community of Rwanda as whole to be more committed to their tasks, putting more energy in fighting against the growing spirits of extremism among the youth.

He said that this task requires an full assessment of the underlying factors that push young muslims to let such destrictive ideas invade their thoughts and therefore taking adequate measures.

According to him, this might be originating from the lack of the jobs among the youth.

Salim Hitimana,whose term is of five years, said that in collaboration with his working team, he will  boost the creation of both technical schools and job opportunities for the youth as to help them focus in more important and up-building issues.
