The New York Police Department (NYPD) has been looking for the owner of a recalled GoPro drone since it crashed through a window of a high-rise apartment building in Manhattan last weekend.
The NYPD said the drone smashed through the window at the 27th floor at about six o’clock Saturday evening. The 66-year-old resident of the apartment was sitting beside her computer desk and didn’t get hurt.
The device landed on the floor just four feet (about 1.2 meters) away from the resident, as reported by the New York Post.
The drone was a remote-controlled 2.2-pound GoPro Karma Quadcopter model, according to the police.
The type was included in a GoPro recall last November after it was on sale for only half a month. The GoPro company said in a statement last year that “in a very small number of cases, Karma units lost power during operation.”
After a three-month-long recall, the Karma drone returned to store shelves. The company announced in a press release that it has fixed the issue, which led to sudden power loss and falling.
