Muhamoud Abbas who leads the Palestinian Authority uttered that its cooperation with the African leaders can significantly help in convincing Israel to let Palestine regain its full independence.
The speech of the Palestinian leader was delivered this Sunday during the 27th African Union Summit attended by Heads of States, Prime Ministers and numerous dignitaries from Africa.
On Saturday he visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial site at Gisozi where he eye witnessed (through the photographs and other revealing materials) the horror of Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.
He said the inhumane acts that the genocide perpetrators have committed should never be repeated and thanked President Kagame as the then Chief Commander of the RPA Army to have courageously stopped the massacres.
Paul Kagame has established peace, security and democratic institutions in this country, Muhammud Abbas said.
Abbas thanked the AU State members to have invited him in the event as this shows at which good extent the cooperation between Africa and Palestine is evolving.
He therefore called upon the African states to back the Palestinian efforts to fight for the full independence that it claims Israel has taken up.
For him 48 years are counted since Israel has captured and withheld a part of the land of Palestine and this is time to return it to ‘its former owner’.
He believes on the strong influence that the united African continent can have on the international scene thus calling for its contribution to the cause of Palestine.
Muhammud Abbas said that a peaceful neighborhood with Israel is the only lasting solution to the long lasting crisis between both nations and this is what Palestine wants more.
He finally indicated that this can’t be achieved unless Israel return the withheld land to its so-called former owner namely Palestine.
