Parents should install self reliance spirit into their children- H.Umulisa

During a meeting  with journalists to explain to them the  program of forthcoming national meeting of children, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of gender and family  promotion, Umulisa Henriette said that the core issues to discuss upon will include self reliance spirit and its bound moral values.

She made this statement during a meeting with journalists that took place in the building of the Ministry where different stakeholders in the promotion of the children’s rights gathered.

H. Umulisa said that parents have duties to install into their children the  spirit of self reliance acquired through the development and application of moral values which traditionally characterize Rwandans.

For her, children should be acquainted with all necessary positive manners as to fully achieve self reliance bound characters that include commitment to work, respect for others and for oneself and working habits both at home and at school.

She said that during the annual meeting of children more focus will be put on the sensitizing children to be effective citizens through the display of different positive habits that makeup the core nature of a Rwandan.

The Executive secretary of the National Children Council Zaina Nyiramatama told journalists that before the inception of the NCC, children underwent different challenges that were not reported due to a significant lack of the advocacy.

Currently the NCC learns and advocates for the needs and wants of the children as to help them grow positively and become effective Rwandans, said Zaina Nyiramatama.

The annual meeting of children brings together NCC officials, envoys from the Ministry of Gender and Family promotion and is attended  by different representatives of NCC from the grassroots levels.

This year’s meeting will be attended by different invited guests from Rwanda and from different nations in the world and the theme is” Children with self reliance spirit”.
