The only Rwandan to be tried by a French court, Cpt Pascal Simbikangwa is likely to face a life imprisonment if found guilty of his involvement into the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
Bruno Sturlese a lawyer who defends the survivors’side urged the court to pronounce a life imprisonment to the former intelligence chief Simbikangwa Pascal for his participation in the killings of the Tutsi in 1994.
In the court, Simbikangwa has denied all the charges and even denied to have seen a dead body. Lawyer Bruno expressed his dissatisfaction about the explanations Simbikangwa provided to the court, thus urging the court to sentence to the life imprisonment.
Cpt Simbikingwa defended him self claiming that his innocence based mo on the fact that he hide some of the Tutsi but witnesses affirm that this does not exclude the fact that he killed others.
It is expected that the verdict will be declared on March, 14, 2014.
