Today, May 16, His Excellence Paul Kagame was handled with an award for his remarkable contribution to the ICT advancement in Rwanda. The 2014 ITU award for President Kagame was given to him today in Geneva.
President Kagame is recognized for his leadership in the advancement of education and the potential of ICT as a dynamic industry as well as an enabler for Africa’s socio-economic transformation. He currently serves as Chairman of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Group on UN MDG Advocacy Group.
Recently, ITU has selected President Kagame, Carlos Slim Heru and Park Geun-hye, the President of South Korea, as figures who have significantly contributed to the ICT promotion in the world.
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) was launched in May, 1865 as a international body specialized in promoting IT related issues such satellites and radio connection systems. The current Managing director of ITU is Hamadoun I. Touré.
