The military prosecutor who accuses Col Byabagamba tom has asked the court to sentence the accused to 22 years in jail.
The same sentence was claimed to be given to retired Brig Gen Frank Rusagara and each of them should pay a fee of eight million Rwandan francs.
The prosecution urged the court to sentence Sergeant Francois Kabayiza who was the driver of Brig Gen Rusagara to six years in jail and pay a fee of five million Rwandan francs.
After relating all the charges the prosecutor found the accused should be prosecuted for, he urged the court to sentence each of them to 22 years and a payment of 22 years in jail.
Sgt Francois Kabayiza who is accused of having possessed a fire weapon in a illegal way has been claimed to be facing six years in jail and pay a fee of five million Rwandan francs.
The military prosecution urged that the stated sentences are legal and should be applied accordingly.
Prosecutor Cpt. Nzakamwita Faustin told the court that these sentences should be applied due to the fact that the accused didn’t cooperate effectively with the court.
The today’s court session was too tense. The accused told the court that it would be better and fair for them if they could be given time to read the prosecution’s final statements before the court concludes the judgment.
The prosecution agreed it will provide written final statements for the accused to read.
