On 22/09/2014, one innocent person was shot dead and three others injured in Kivumu Cell, Gisenyi Sector, Rubavu District. Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) deeply regrets and strongly condemns that very sad incident.
The preliminary evidence gathered on the ground suggests that the criminal act was committed by Cpl Habiyambere Emmanuel, who has been immediately arrested.
Very well known for its ethos and high level discipline, RDF does not condone in any way such unforgivable behavior within its ranks.
It is in this regard that the Military Prosecution has immediately started investigating the case.
Once investigations are concluded, the suspect will be brought before Military Courts for prosecution and, if found guilty, he will be sentenced to the fullest extent of the law.
The RDF extends its profound condolences to the aggrieved families and friends of those killed and injured during the unfortunate incident.
