Dr John Rutayisire of REB says that the recent reforms in education will not harm students’ registration process.
The REB Manager says that after different reforms undertaken in the education hindered students from registering on time as the new academic year has started once month ago.
Last weekend, the REB has published a new list of students to receive a full financial support in what is known as Ubudehe but students say that they are put in categories different from what they know being part of , others say they are sent in different universities other than where they chose to study in.
Those students gathered to REB office in Kigali to present their concerns, arguing the institution to adjust these lists as quick as possible so they can start learning in the coming week.
Dr Rutayisire assured these students that the REB is hardly working to readjust the list and urged them to be patient as REB keeps on resolving the issues.
He said that the ones who did not know what categories they belong in should ask more information from their respective districts because REB is not entitled to put or to remove one from or to the list.
Dr Rutayisire said he is hopeful that universities will set up mechanisms to help students recover from their delay to attend lectures due to these reforms.
The challenges students are facing relate to the fact that the REB did not set up quick mechanisms to receive their claims as they delay from attending lectures.
