This new transport system was communicated to the general public yesterday by the Permanent secretary in the Ministry of transport Dr Nzahabwanimana Alexis during the meeting of all transport stakeholders held yesterday in Kigali.
The RITCO( (Rwanda Interlink Transport Corporation Ltd) will cover different remote areas of Rwanda and will be replacing the ‘Office National des Transport en Commun’ (ONATRACOM) that has been operating for many decades ago and was blamed to cover a relatively small space of Rwanda.
The RITCO is supposed to help people living in remote areas to enjoy quick and adequate transport facilities as many roads have been created to facilitate them.
According to Dr Nzahabwanimana, the new transport company will use not 160 new buses that are believed to help passengers reach remote areas.
Currently Rwanda has purchased 50 buses able to carry 80 passengers, each.
The RITCO will be operating together with RTFC in providing quick and effective transport services across Rwanda.
The Rwandan government has all needed means to purchase these buses and they start being operational early next year.
