Today the Police has shown to media a man and a woman who have been caught in selling illicit drinks and drugs including the ones called Chief, Kanyanga and others that they brought from Uganda. Both are jailed at Gisozi police station
Ndaberetse Gabriel the man was caught in Gatuna border between Rwanda and Uganda. He was heading to Kigali with packs full of these illicit drinks worthy 2, 232 million Rwandan francs. The woman is called Murekatete Dancila. She lives in Karururuma, Jali sector.
At the time when the Police was searching about similar drugs in the house of a certain Theobard , the Police agents found many packs full of Kanyanga and illicit liquors, all oof which are the property of lady Murekatere Dancila.
She denied the ownership of these items and said that the property belonged to Theobard who is the owner of the house she rents
The woman was arrested holding many packs of Kanyanga, Chief liquors .
Police said that the dossier of the charges they are accused of will be brought to justice tomorrow. The Law stipulates that the all people who will be found guilty of having consumed these drugs will face between one and three years of imprisonment while the ones who fabricate and sell them will pass between 2 to 5 years.
The Spokesperson of Police in Kigali City, Spt Mbabazi Modeste commended the cooperation between locals and police as to arrest such people who do not care about the well being of Rwandans in general.
