The Exective secretary of the Kanama sector in Rubavu district Sebikari Jean has urged local religious leaders to increase their efforts in mobilizing their followers for the payment of the Mutuelle de Sante medical insurance. He said that during a joint meeting between both religious leaders and local government officials.
Sebikari said that the mobilization can be carried out during or after christian gatherings that take place in their respective churches.
As opinion leaders and spiritual shepherds, religious were thanked for the significant role they play in the mobilization of the population for different social and economic policies.
Sebikari told UM– USEKE reporter that that cooperation with the religious leaders bore positive results in the past as the current estimations are rated at 70 per cent.
One of the locals, Harebamungu Faustin affirms that the contribution of the religious leaders to them about the effectiveness of the Mutuelle de Sante has been effective in changing their mindsets.
Some of us were careless about this new policy but our spiritual leaders helped us to change and embrace the health related policy, he told us.
Sebikari urged other leaders in the country to further involve the religious leaders in the mobilization of the population about the governmental policies including Mutuelle de sante( a participatory medical insurance)
