The Minister of ICT and youth Nsengiyumva Jean Philbert applauds the role played by a Ruhango local farming factory called Gafunzo Rice Mill in providing locals especially the youth with jobs.
The official visit of the Minister of ICT and youth in Ruhango aimed at finding out the challenges facing the youth and the achievements young people made.
The youth told the Minister that the most hindrance relates to the lack of sufficient start-up amount to launch promising businesses.
A relatively big number of young people told the Minister they even lack sufficient information about how the BDF (Business Development Funds) works.
The Minister urged them to get informed about how the BDF works so that they can have access to loans and investment. Minister Nsengiyumva visited local rice farming and processing factory. The factory provides the young people with money and food supplies.
Both are key assets of self –making process for the youth and for even the older people. The factory that has been set up by the youth itself and has hired a big number of young people as the business kept growing.
Uwamahoro Peter, the manager of the factory said that the factory has been set up by three persons. The starting procedure was hard but the situation improved as time passed on.
He called upon his fellow young people to take risks and start businesses that are likely to change their lives. The Gafunzo Rice Mill factory has provided 20 young people with jobs and has changed their lives.
Young people from Ruhango district has bought 17 milking cows, among which 3 were given to the neediest youth.
