During her visit to the Ruhango Hospital located in Kinazi Sector, the Minister of health Dr Agnes Binagwaho has provided to four workers of the Hospital with bursaries to pursue high education as to improve their knowledge in medical field.
The hospital visited by Minister Binagwaho has been inaugurated by H.E Paul Kagame in 2012 and is among the best equipped ones countrywide.
Dr. Agnes Binagwaho was warmly welcomed by Hospital officials and medical staff from both inside and outside the hospital.
After visiting all departments and rooms for patients in the Hospital, Min Binagwaho appreciated the working system in the hospital which is supervised by Dr. Valens Habimana.
Dr Binagwaho conducted a meeting with the staff and asked how many medical staff hold an A2 degree (Secondary school level diploma).
She was told that four medical workers were the only ones to have A2 degree and Dr Binagwaho promised to those four workers to continue their studies at a higher level in the next year’s academic year.
One of locals, Kubwimana Onesphore; told UM– USEKE that the Hospital is a response to the health challenges people experienced.
The availability of the hospital helped us to get quick and effective medical care, he said.
Dr. Valens Habimana, who is the CEO of the Hospital thanked the Minister for the second visit to the Hospital and reported some challenges workers encounter.
Among them are issues related to delay of the payment of money reserved for the Mutuelle de Santé (a medical insurance).
The delay of the payment is a root for other projects of the Hospital not to be implemented as scheduled, he added.
Dr Habimana told the Minister that the Hospital needs more PhD holders as a Hospital that will be set as the hospital of reference of the South Province and which receives many patients have different and complicated health cases.
Minister Dr. Agnes Binagwaho urged the staff to uphold the services quality delivery for the patients from the region.
