Munyemana Ephrem from Rutsiro District, Murunda Sector killed his father accusing him to have not given him the heritage. The incident happened this Sunday. Munyemana was known to keep saying that he will kill his father but neighbors thought he was joking.
Reports on ground say that Munyemana accused his father to have killed his domesticated pigs and sheep and to have not given him his heritage.
Munyemana told the Police that he killed his father Sunday after he was coming back from the Christian mass and found that his father has killed one of his pigs. He took a knife and slaughtered his father to death.
The Police spokesperson in the Western Province Supt Hamza Vita urged both parents and children to develop communication skills among them as to avoid misunderstandings that can lead to such deadly conflicts.
He told neighbors to report on the situations susceptible to lead to deadly conflicts so that preventive measures can be taken accordingly.
Nizeyimana Garrican was born in 1967 while his son was born in 1990. If Munyemana is found guilty, he will be sentenced to life imprisonment as stipulated by Article 141 of the penal code.
