The might radar is located in Nyamata, Bugesera district. It is powered with the weather forecasting technologies that enables it to provide data every seven minutes.
One of the researchers in the weather and agriculture Dr Kagabo Désiré urged more Rwandans to exploit weather forecast data provided by the Rwanda Meteo agency as to be equipped with information that may help them to avoid some hazards that are to happen from heavy rains.
He said that adequate information on weather forecast are available and accurate but some of beneficiaries do not get and use them appropriately.
In Bugesera district, Nyamata sector at Maranyundo hill, a huge and highly technologically able radar is operating to provide weather related data to technicians of the Rwanda Meteorological agency who analyze and inform the general public accordingly.
It provides adequate information every seven minutes for users to benefit from. However some of them underestimate them..
Antony Twahirwa from the Meteo Rwanda reveals that the radar is unique in the Eastern African region.
Every seven minutes the radar provides all information related to wind and weather temperature in the region at large, he said.
He called upon Rwandans to rely on the weather forecast provided by the Meteo Rwanda despite of some shortcomings as it is a weather forecast.
