The Government of Rwanda and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) co-signed a financing agreement worth US$ 33.9 Million (approximately Frw) for the post-harvest and agribusiness support project (PASP).
The overall goal of the project is to alleviate poverty, increase rural income and contribute to the overall economic development of Rwanda.
PASP will increase small land holders and rural labourer incomes (including women, youth and vulnerable groups) through crop intensification programs and diary businesses especially those involved in production for markets.
The project will support transformation and create value addition to enable small land holders to capture a higher share of the value.
This project will focus on three components including capacity development programme and business coaching, post-harvest climate resilient agri-business investment support and project management and coordination
Since 1981, IFAD has financed 14 rural development programs and projects in Rwanda for a total amount of US$205.2 million. This financial agreement is a 50-50 grant and concessional loan.
