The Head of State Paul Kagame and his delegation has attended the ECCAS sumiit for the first time since Rwanda reintegrated the community after its withdrawal few years ago. Rwanda reintegrated the ECCAS community last year.
Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) comprises of 11 African nations sucha as Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, DR Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Sao Tome & Principe and Rwanda.
The yesterday’ summit was chaired by the Gabonese President Ali Bongo Odimba wa Gabon alongside his counterparts namely the Chadian Idriss Deby Itno Faustin-Archange Touadera from Central African Republic, among others.
Rwanda rejoins the ECCAS with full commitment to boost partnerships with member states in wider trade initiatives in the central African region.
News dispatched from the Presidency of the Republic of Rwanda informs that issues related to Rwandan security were debated involving growing terrorism, armed groups in DRC, Central Africa and Burundi.
President Bongo urged member states present in the summit to strengthen the cooperation as to achieve lasting and sustained peace in the region useful for prosperity.
