Bank of Kigali has won the Euromoney Award for Excellence as the best bank in Rwanda for 2013.The bank received the award during the awards dinner in London last week.
“As the largest and most established bank in Rwanda’s burgeoning banking sector, Bank of Kigali has shown dedication to promoting financial inclusion in Rwanda through a number of innovative financial solutions. The financials are also strong, with 31.5 per cent of total loans and 28.1 per cent of total deposits in the country, and over 50 per cent of the sector’s net profits in 2012. Clive Horwood, the Euromoney magazine editor, said.
James Gatera, the Bank of Kigali chief executive officer, said the bank was honoured to receive the award. “We acknowledged the hard work and commitment of employees and the trust customers have placed in the bank.
“We continue to deliver solid results for shareholders and focus on responding to the needs of clients,” he said.
Euromoney magazine was established in 1969 to cover the re-emergence of the global cross-border capital markets.
Regarded as the benchmark awards for financial services globally, the Euromoney Awards for Excellence are now in their 23rd year.
This year’s awards process, which began in April, attracted over 600 submissions
