The Zipline company is ready to start its 12 Million US $ investment in Rwanda in drones that will be used in medical supply to more hardly accessible areas where deadly accidents will be happening and where seriously injured people will be needing bloods or other medical facilities to get a relief.
Keller Rinaudo who leads the Zipline said that the investment will be providing Rwanda with between 12 and 15 drones to carry out the tasks. All of these issues will be available not later than November, 2016.
Once the investment and the project will be proven successful, its planners will implement it in the rest of the world, including the USA as approved by the Zipline manager, Keller.
During the inauguration event, the drone that was exhibited is able to airlift not less than 1.5 Kg including bloods for patients and seriously injured people in remote areas.
Minister of youth and ICT Jean Philbert Nsengimana said that these drones will be carrying its tasks in 21 hospitals among 45 that are installed in Rwanda.
Min Nsengimana said that the drones will also help in strengthening people’s knowledge on technology related issues as they are equipped with normal technology of the rest of planes.
Keller informed that the headquarters of the Zipline will be installed in Muhanga at Kigali airport.
In 2017, all hospitals will be equiped with these drones and one drone will cost around two millions Rwandan Francs(2million Rwf).
