The Minister of internal security, Mussa Fazil Harerimana revealed to the media that the Government has taken adequate measures to deal with the current fire breakdowns that keep destroying people’s goods. These on-growing fires have killed seven people since they erupted in two past years.
The fire breakdowns have burnt as various buildings as night clubs, Byimana Secondary school, different shops in Kigali, a part of Isango Star radio station room, Muhanga prison and recently the Rubavu prison.
The preventive measures as well as defensive measures are still needed to be increased so that the number of losses (both human and material) might decline.
Poorly or old electric power installations are quoted as being the roots of the blazing fires in different parts of the nation.
Experience has shown that the defensive measures against the fire are still poorly provided as they come late and more items are devastated consequently.
The Minister Sheikh Mussa Fazil Harerimana told journalists in a press conference that took place on 08, July that adequate measures have been taken against the spread of the fire and therefore to minimize the fire-related impacts.
Among these measures include smaller and quicker vehicles to extinguish the fire in different corners of the Kigali city.
One day later, a fire erupted in one of the Kigali downtown shops and the anti fire vehicles arrived in place later, after many valuable items were spoiled.
Minister Harerimana revealed that the government has purchased 11 high speed fire extinguisher vehicles ready to intervene in the Kigali and in its neighboring cities.
