The Basket courses to learn will be listed to be examined the same way as other courses such as electronics, electricity as well as mechanics courses. This initiative aims at boosting the sporting spirit among the youth as one of the effective drivers of both physiological and intellectual fitness.
It has to be monitored by the Rwandan Basketball Federation (FERWABA) and the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and it has its headquarters in Musanze district in Northern Province.
Officials from both institutions were present at the inaugural event in Nyakinama, Musanze district.
30 were selected students attended the first testing exercises. All of them will undergo intensive training in this discipline.
The training was managed by the coach of the national basketball team Moses Mutokambali who lauded the initiative saying that it is an added value on the current basketball status in Rwanda.
He said that all of the selected young people are less than 15 years old, revealing that this is a chance for them to develop effective basketball playing skills.
Officials reveal that this new program will feature different other disciplines in the coming near future.
Athletics, football and swimming will be taught in the campus located in IPRC South with Basketball will be learnt in Musanze Polytechnic from January, 23, 2017.
HandBall learners will be formed in IPRC West while selected 30 Volleyball learners will be formed in IPRC East.
Cricket and Tennis players are supposed to undergo lessons in the campus of IPRC-Kigali where they will be using the playgrounds of ETO-Kicukiro and Amahoro National Stadium.
