Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson of the Commission Bishop Rucyahana John said the signing gesture is an indicator that current political parties of Rwanda are willing to cooperate with NURC to change the negative image that resulted from its involvement in genocide against the Tutsis.

He reminded that many political parties played a negative role in seeding hatred among Rwandans during genocide, adding that the MoU with political parties will remove such dark image and create conducive atmosphere for better working conditions.

In the recent past, political actors were mostly motivated by a will of revenge and wrongdoing, a situation that is to change among the actual ones, he urged present political parties representatives.

Christine Mukabunani who is the spokesperson of the Forum of Rwandan Political Parties said this signing of the MoU is a tool that leads to the acquiring of a common understanding between politicians  in as far as unity and reconciliation process is concerned.

She, thereafter, revealed that a guide book has been put in place as to help more politicians acquire needed information on peace building and unity strengthening.

Mukabunani said that the content of the MoU allows each willing political party to appoint an observer in the NURC.

Venantie Tugireyezu, the  Minister in the Office of the President of the Republic called upon members of the NURC to practice what they preach.

She underlined the importance of being honest and trustworthy towards Rwandans whom they teach to unite and to reconcile.

Min Tugireyezu warned them to avoid mismanaging public funds allocated to them as recent annual report of the General Auditor revealed.

NURC top officials uttered that one of the hindrances for not fully achieving they tasks relates to low budget allocations.

Both parties believe the signing of the MoU will enhance unity and reconciliation process Rwandans undertook
